Deep color, more brown than orange. Dark umber. Distinctive woody and savory aroma. The taste is drier than some and the sweet-sour complexity dispels any notion of alcohol, almost a hint of yeast extract. Beautifully balanced. It is a little more expensive than many 10-year-old Tawnies, but it is also far superior and worth the extra cost." (Jancis Robinson 2015)

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rating (2015 guide) 90/100 (Outstanding wine)
About wine:
The 10-year-old NV white port "Quinta da Gaivosa" was bottled in July 2014 with a bar top cork. It is a field blend with 97 grams per liter of residual sugar. This wine was tasted from a 500 ml bottle. Fresh and lively, it finishes with notes of sugar, herbs, and spices. It is easy to drink and relaxed. As it aerates, it concentrates a little more and becomes a little more full-bodied, but it is still elegant and graceful. It adds a layer of depth to the Caldas white port, also reviewed in this issue, as well as a little sugar and spice, but it remains relatively dry, concentrated, and rather restrained. Overall, this is a pleasant summer-style Port that can add a refreshing quality to its impeccable balance. It is not particularly designed for bottle aging, but unless the cork fails, it will undoubtedly last a decade—or two. Like a Tawny, it is very resilient. Tasted over several days, it was, at best, slightly better. But drink it. It is enjoyable now and there is no need to dilute it. 2015-2035
