4-Star Rated Estate (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

At Tempier, Mourvèdre reigns supreme. This grape variety, renowned for expressing its finest qualities when bathed in sunshine and surrounded by water, finds ideal terroir here, nurtured by the attentive guidance of a long-established winemaking family. A historic estate within the Bandol appellation, already existing during the reign of Louis XV, Tempier has been managed by the same family since 1834—first Tempier, then Peyraud—and is now assisted by Daniel Ravier, who runs the property with the same brilliance and exacting standards as in its early days. With 38 hectares of vines spread across three communes, the estate produces exclusively Bandol wines, the vast majority of which are reds. Sheltered from the mistral wind by the Castellet promontory and bathed in perfect sunshine, the terroir creates ideal conditions for producing wines that have become legendary.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100 (2020 vintage)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the estate:

Tempier is now the benchmark wine of the Bandol appellation. The Peyraud family has done everything possible to reach the top of the regional and, above all, local hierarchy. Daniel Ravier, the current estate manager, initiated this resurgence. He launched a significant investment program in the winery, equipping it with modern winemaking facilities, followed by a complete renovation of the large oak casks. And, of course, he paid particular attention to an exceptional viticultural heritage comprised of very old vines of Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cinsault, and Grenache, which produce, among other wines, three renowned cuvées. La Migoua (10 hectares in Beausset-Vieux, half Mourvèdre complemented by Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah), La Tourtine (5.5 hectares on south-facing terraces in Le Castellet, predominantly Mourvèdre, with Grenache and Cinsault), and Cabassaou (1.5 hectares, south-facing, 95% Mourvèdre with a touch of Syrah and Cinsault). Recent vintages have reached a very high level. The estate has acquired the 22 hectares of vines at Domaine de La Laidière in Sainte-Anne-d'Évenos, primarily used for rosé production, leading Tempier to now produce more rosé than red.
