Bettane & Desseauve

(2007 Vintage Notes)

A new vintage, the 2007 was rated: Bettane & Desseauve 15/20
Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon blend harmoniously in this cuvée , with an intense aroma of red fruits (Burlat cherries, blackberries, etc.). A toasty note adds aromatic complexity. The attack on the palate is supple, the tannins are well-integrated, and the finish is long and generous. A beautiful and delicious red wine from Provence.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (guide 2014) 15,5/20 (vintage 2007) (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Jacqueline Bichot, a pharmacist who became a winemaker, fell in love with this ideally situated vineyard, with Mount Sainte-Victoire as a backdrop. It lies at an elevation of 400 meters, in an area where the cool climate is reflected in the wines. The Sainte-Victoire terroir produces pure and elegant wines here, perfectly reflective of their origins. Having earned organic and biodynamic certification in 2017, she has demonstrated the seriousness of her approach and continues to meticulously tend to her 47 hectares of vines on the clay-limestone soil typical of the appellation.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

The estate takes its name from the Chapel of Saint-Ser, dedicated to a 5th-century hermit who, ignoring the threats of the Visigothic ruler Enric, was beheaded. Cultivated using biodynamic methods, its vineyard (46 ha) stretches across a prime terroir of limestone gravel on the southern slope of Sainte-Victoire Mountain, where the grapes enjoy maximum sunlight.
