"A splendid vintage, just like its terroir!"

The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is unmatched in its precision and concentration. Honeyed quince, white flowers, honeysuckle, chalky minerality, and notes of toasted spices define the aromas. The wine is medium-bodied to full-bodied, with beautiful depth on the mid-palate and a remarkable sensation of freshness, while remaining rich and textured." (Jeb Dunnuck 2021)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About the estate:

Since 1909, Beaucastel has been owned by the Perrin family, now under the management of Jean-Pierre and François, the sons of Jacques Perrin, accompanied by Cécile, Marc, Pierre, Thomas, Charles, Mathieu, and César, the fifth generation. In other words, it's a family affair! Located on 100 hectares of rounded pebbles, including 30 hectares in Côtes du Rhône (Coudoulet de Beaucastel), Château Beaucastel produces four wines. In white, a classic cuvée dominated by Roussanne, and the famous Roussanne-Vieilles-Vignes cuvée. In red, Mourvèdre plays a major role, accounting for nearly a third of the plantings, as much as Grenache. This unusual proportion was strategic in 2018 and allowed Beaucastel to achieve its characteristic finesse and freshness. This is undoubtedly one of the finest wine estates in France, with, in our opinion, an added purity in recent years.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About wine:

An aromatic vintage at this stage, with notes of honeyed pear and honeysuckle. Full-bodied, round, and generous, with plenty of glycerol, all cut by strong acidity. The alcohol only warms slightly. Certainly a rich vintage, full of power, weight, and maturity.

About wine:

Beaucastel's 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc, composed of 80% Roussanne and the remainder a blend of other authorized white grape varieties, is a wine of great finesse. Notes of mandarin and peach are round and fleshy on the full-bodied palate, which is quite rich and mellow to the touch, but long and harmonious on the finish. It is truly remarkable that it can be so ripe and sumptuous while still being balanced.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

With its unique terroir of rounded pebbles, Château de Beaucastel is one of the emblems of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This estate can boast of being one of the few to use all thirteen authorized grape varieties to produce its red wine. The wine is consistently of a very high standard, but faces competition from other vintages that have shaken up the appellation's hierarchy. Of course, the extremely rare and remarkable Hommage à Jacques Perrin vintage, made predominantly from Mourvèdre and produced only in great years, remains a benchmark, as does the sumptuous Roussanne Vieilles Vignes white, which reveals itself over time. Under the efficient management of the Perrin family, Château de Beaucastel remains a benchmark for wines from the south of France, a status it now shares with other estates that have reached or even surpassed its level.

About wine:

Beautiful nutty notes on the nose—almond, marzipan, and spiced pear. The palate is rich and dense—textured, full-bodied, and almost sweet. Marzipan is present on the finish. Honeyed, powerful, and very rich finish, broad and golden. Well-balanced but very grand!

About wine:

The 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc has the potential to surpass the four previous vintages. This 2022 white wine surprises with its captivating aromas of spring flowers, lime and lemon zest, pear, white peach, quince, and a tropical touch of melon. With an alcohol content of 14%, it is very fresh and offers ripe, juicy fruit and exceptional flavor definition. The savory finish lingers for over a minute.

About wine:

Fantastic nose of cooked apricots, a wide range of candied fruits and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, concentrated and creamy, with a very smooth texture on the palate and a very long finish with great controlled power. Made from organically grown grapes. Enjoy now or keep.
