Domaine des Sénéchaux
Domaine des Sénéchaux, located in the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine region, has been owned by the JM Cazes family since 2006. The wines of Domaine des Sénéchaux reflect the distinctive character of the terroir, in both red and white varieties, across 27 hectares. The estate dates back to the 14th century and is one of the oldest vineyards in Castro Novo, the land of the Pope’s wines.
The red wine plots at Domaine des Sénéchaux are planted on three distinct soil types: stony clay-limestone, deep sandy, and soft sandstone and safre. The grape varieties include Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Vaccarèse-Cinsault for the reds, and Roussanne, White Grenache, Clairette, and Bourboulenc for the whites. The white grape varieties face south and southwest on sandy-clay-limestone soil. Domaine des Sénéchaux produces full-bodied red wines as well as rich and aromatic white wines.
