Château de Nages
Château de Nages is part of Vignobles Michel Gassier, a family of winemakers that has been passed down from father to son for four generations. Château de Nages has thus been handed down from generation to generation, along with an unwavering love for the vines, the wine, and the Mediterranean land that nurtures them. The vineyard is part of the Costières de Nîmes, the southernmost region of the Rhône Valley, with its Rhône grape varieties, its soil (composed of pebbles deposited by the Rhône and Durance rivers), and the dry breeze of the Mistral. It stretches across gentle slopes southeast of Nîmes and all the way to the Petite Camargue.
The vineyards of Château de Nages are cultivated using sustainable methods, and the vineyard is currently in the process of converting to organic farming. The local terroir consists of pebbles that store the sun’s heat, much like in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and benefits from a convection effect generated by the thermal sea breezes from the Mediterranean. The moderating effect of these sea breezes enhances the temperature variations between day and night, which preserves the freshness and purity of the wines’ fruit.
