“A must-have for lovers of fine Rhône wines!”
“Ripe and round, with a supple and incredibly elegant style, the 2023 Côte Rôtie La Giroflarie offers aromas of ripe red and black fruits, spices, floral incense, and clay. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, with a round, complex, and harmonious palate, beautiful tannins, and exceptional length. Rated estate (2024 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
This small estate cultivates eleven plots across eight vineyards in Côte-Rôtie, from which Patrick Jasmin produces a single blended wine that requires several years of aging. A serious producer.

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the estate:
Patrick Jasmin is the fourth generation of his family to cultivate the estate’s six hectares (currently) of Côte Rôtie. Since 2015, the estate has also included 12 hectares of early-ripening Collines Rhodaniennes. Jasmin uses a variety of oak sizes, with no more than 30% new oak overall. The luxury cuvée, Oléa, may have a higher proportion, as it is a selection of barrels, but this means that 15% to 20% new oak is more typical of the estate’s main cuvée, La Giroflarie. The grapes are destemmed (since the mid-1990s), with submerged cap fermentation for gentle extraction and about 5% Viognier. The result is fragrant wines with silky textures but admirable structure. They certainly deserve more attention from consumers.

Rated: Recommended
About the wine:
The 2023 Côte-Rôtie La Giroflarie reveals its character through intense notes of black cherry, graphite dust, black plum, and fruit. Slightly fragrant notes of cedar add a touch of nuance. Medium-bodied and concentrated, the 2023 vintage is a Côte-Rôtie with a soft structure and impeccable freshness, finishing with a lingering aftertaste featuring spicy accents.
