Domaine de l'Inattendu - Côtes du Rhône La Porte d'Or 2025
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"A wine with character!"
“This young winery shines brilliantly with this cuvée, whose name pays homage to the eponymous cooperative winery that no longer exists. A breathtaking red, dominated by Syrah (60%), with a depth of color that is expected yet remarkable, and a nose that is still reserved, offering notes of pulpy black fruits and Zan. This aromatic profile is fully savored on the palate—dense, textured, and succulent—carried by finely sculpted tannins, culminating in a fresh finish with hints of cumin that leaves you wanting more.” (Le Guide Hachette 2027)

About the wine:
This young winery shines brilliantly with this cuvée, whose name pays homage to the eponymous cooperative winery that no longer exists. A breathtaking red, dominated by Syrah (60%), with a depth of color that is expected yet remarkable, and a nose that is still reserved, offering notes of pulpy black fruits and Zan. This aromatic profile is fully savored on the palate, which is dense, textured, and full of vitality, supported by finely sculpted tannins, culminating in a fresh finish with hints of cumin that leaves you wanting more.
About the estate:
Coming from a family of winemakers, the Roches have been members of the Pont Saint-Esprit winery cooperative since its founding in 1929, and Thierry worked there as a winemaker before taking over the family estate (45 ha) in 1996. The arrival of his sons Mathieu and Quentin to work alongside him in 2021 coincided with the cooperative’s dissolution. The three of them then made an unexpected decision: they bought the cooperative’s buildings to set up their own winemaking facility there.
