“A Côtes du Rhône bursting with richness”

Vinified from whole clusters, as at Rayas, the old vines of Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah develop remarkable complexity. The bouquet evolves into notes of red fruit, blackcurrant, and spices. The attack is round and enveloping, supported by structured, refined tannins. The finish is pleasantly long and offers a rich, indulgent experience. Enjoy now, or wait if you’re patient enough…

Wine rated (2026 guide) 90/100 (2022 vintage)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Located in Courthézon, Font de Courtedune was founded in 1997—after years of delivering grapes to the cooperative winery—by the father of Caroline and Frédéric Charlier, the brother and sister who now run the estate. Over the past thirty years, this unassuming estate has become one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s most reliable names. Caroline and Frédéric joined the estate in 2001 and took over in 2010 following their father’s passing. While Frédéric tends to the vineyards, Caroline manages the wines in the cellar. Staying true to tradition, she vinifies with the stems and ages the wine in concrete tanks. IGP, Côtes-du-Rhône, and Châteauneuf—a nearly pure Grenache from a Safre sector: here, all the wines share the same guiding principle—finesse and purity, nothing else.

Review by Mr. Gilles D. Posted on March 14, 2026

Simple yet well-crafted, this smooth and refreshing Côtes du Rhône offers a delicate texture with a silky mouthfeel, featuring flavors of ripe fruit and peppery spices. A hint of tannins on the finish. No need to rush to drink it. The character of this easy-drinking wine already makes for a delightful experience without breaking the bank, paired with everyday Southern cuisine (kefta, lamb moussaka, grilled chorizo, etc.). Rating = 3.8.
