Here is a surprising Crozes-Hermitage where the richness of the Syrah reveals floral notes and hints of red berries (wild strawberries, raspberries). The finish of this cuvée is slightly briny with menthol notes. While it’s still young, we recommend opening it at least 2 hours in advance or decanting it to fully appreciate its complexity. About the estate:
A breath of fresh air is sweeping through Vidal-Fleury. Antoine Dupré has replaced Guy Sarton du Jonchay at the helm of the oldest wine merchant in the Northern Rhône (founded in 1781), which is now owned by the Guigal family but operated independently. New business ambitions are taking shape, and a new winemaking style is gradually emerging, which is beginning to show in the range of wines offered. Stay tuned.

About the estate:
The oldest active wine merchant in the Rhône region, founded in 1781 based on its vineyard in Côte-Rôtie and renowned from the very beginning—Thomas Jefferson held a memorable banquet there in 1787. Owned by the Guigal family since 1986, it features a monumental cellar whose architecture is inspired by the Egyptian site of Saqqara.

Founded in 1781, Vidal-Fleury is the oldest winery in the Rhône Valley still in operation. It was acquired by the Guigal family in the early 1980s and boasts modern, high-performance facilities, as well as autonomy in its management and winemaking. The range is extensive and covers most of the major appellations in the Rhône Valley. The wines are now consistently reliable, in a rather classic style.
