About the estate:

Nicolas Souchon is the cellar master at Clos Saint-Jean in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He has also established his own estate, Le Mas des Volques, very close to Nîmes in the terroirs of the Duchy of Uzès. The Volques were the first tribe to settle in the Mediterranean basin, long before the Romans. Nicolas drew on the expert advice of Philippe Cambie to create two wines: “Volcae,” made from very old Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan vines and aged in large oak barrels; and “Alba-Dolia,” a delicious white wine for fine dining, primarily made from Roussanne and Viognier. The first vintages are already of a very high standard. One to watch, indeed.
