“Intensity and complexity in your glass!”

“A beautiful sense of purity, with a delightful bouquet of vibrant raspberry, strawberry, and garrigue herbs. It is full-bodied, generous, supple, and velvety, yet irresistibly juicy. With well-balanced acidity and alcohol, this is a very successful, thoroughly classic Gigondas, ready to drink now or to age. Sourced from a single plot surrounding the estate, only one vintage is produced. The grapes are fully destemmed, then aged in old oak casks.” (Decanter 2024)

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France

Rated estate (2025 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

The estate’s wine is the quintessential example of a fine Gigondas: full-bodied, robust, and unpretentious. With a firm, dense structure, the best vintages require four to five years of aging to fully open up. From that point on, they develop beautiful complexity over time and continue to improve for ten to twenty years.

About the wine:

Raspail-Ay, one of my favorite estates in Gigondas, produced exceptional wines in both 2023 and 2022. Subtle aromas of black fruit, Provençal spices, rich and peppery nuances, as well as classic notes of garrigue emerge from the 2023 Gigondas, a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, entirely destemmed and aged in old oak casks. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, with a ripe and complex palate, ripe tannins, and exceptional length. This is a classic, well-raised Gigondas that will shine upon release, while retaining an overall aging potential of more than 15 years.
