"A beautiful length and a lot of complexity"

"The terraced slopes of sand and pebbles produce finer, less tannic Lirac, of which this cuvée is the most flattering archetype, unanimously acclaimed by tasters. They loved the intriguing, variegated bouquet, patiently opening up to iris, cherry and wild mint; and the crisp, friendly, supple palate, garnished with velvety tannins, which ensures a fine persistence to minty red fruits, enhanced by pink pepper. When gourmandise doubles as complexity, we applaud". (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the domain :

A key figure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, Alain Jaume's family runs a top-quality wine merchant business, as well as owning fine vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Their main source of pride is the grand-veneur wine, a classic Châteauneuf. Clos de Sixte, the family estate in Tavel, offers a fine image of the cru, while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the cuvée de vieilles-vignes is one of the appellation's finest wines. The estate's destiny is being brilliantly assured by Alain Jaume's children.

About the domain :

Of Castelpapal origin, Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe, perpetuate a winegrowing tradition that dates back to 1826. They manage a 155-hectare organic vineyard spread over 4 estates: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Ch. Mazane in Vacqueyras, and Dom. la Grangette Saint-Joseph in AOC Côtes-du-Rhône, all complemented by a trading activity. A sure bet.
