About the estate:

A leading producer of Tavel and Lirac wines, and also highly regarded for its Châteauneuf and Côtes-du-Rhône wines, this estate—whose origins date back to the late 18th century—has been run by Pascal Lafond since 1990. Its extensive organic vineyard, certified since 2012, now covers 95 hectares spread across four appellations. The next generation is now assured with the arrival of his sons Jean-Baptiste (2014) and François (2019), who hold BTS degrees in viticulture and oenology and have completed internships abroad.

Rated wine (2025 guide) 92/100 (Excellent wine)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The Roc-Épine Blanc 2024 is a beautifully balanced wine that opens with aromas of honeysuckle, ripe apricot, spring flowers, and sweet spices. Medium- to full-bodied with a silky texture, it is harmonious and enveloping, centered around a fleshy yet lively fruit core. Aged 10% in used barrels, it retains impressive freshness and tension, and concludes with a long, enticing finish, carried by lively acidity and a gentle, food-friendly bitterness. This refined and expressive white wine should be a pleasure to drink over the next few years.

Rated estate (2024 guide) Recommended

About the wine:

The nose offers powdery notes and a lovely, crisp freshness. On the palate, it is quite rich, with a full-bodied mid-palate and lively acidity that lends it energy. While well-balanced, it nevertheless retains its precision and character thanks to its textured finish with honeyed notes. Enticing.
