"A red wine that's perfect for a nice grilled steak with friends!"

“Made from a blend of two-thirds Grenache Noir and one-third Syrah, the 2023 Lirac from Domaine Lafond Roc-Épine is a superb success. It opens with a deep and complex bouquet of black wild berries, black cherries, violets, and licorice, complemented by subtle spicy notes and a discreet hint of oak. Medium- to full-bodied, it is rich and enveloping, with a fleshy, fruity core, layered textures, and a harmonious mid-palate. Supported by velvety tannins, it concludes with a long, spicy, and airy finish. This is a high-class Lirac that will benefit from being cellared for at least a decade. ” (Wine Advocate 2025)

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on March 30, 2026

When fully mature, this Lirac captivates with its robust, full-bodied, and rounded profile, offering juicy, highly intense flavors of red and black fruits with spicy and vanilla undertones, as well as balsamic notes resulting from understated aging, all framed by polished, enveloping tannins with a fleshy, velvety texture that carries through to a finish enhanced by a hint of pepper. Very reasonably priced. A pure delight when paired with fine cuts of red meat or game dishes, such as a traditional red-wine stew of wild rabbit served with chanterelle mushrooms. Rating = 4.1.
