"There is a wealth of expertise at this renowned Lirac estate, as evidenced by this admirable 2022 vintage, in which the winemakers made the most of a dry growing season through an early harvest in mid-September, followed by tailored aging in tanks. Low yields have enhanced the depth of the color, adorned with bluish highlights, and the aromas, which are fruity and balsamic, evoking blackberry syrup, peppermint, and juniper berries. Expressive and rich on the attack, the mid-palate is structured around firm yet velvety tannins, which leave an irresistible trail of fresh, juicy fruit on the finish. Best enjoyed with roasted poultry.” (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About the wine:
This renowned Lirac estate truly possesses a wealth of expertise, as evidenced by this admirable 2022 vintage, in which the winemaker skillfully made the most of a dry growing season through an early harvest in mid-September, followed by tailored tank aging. Enjoy with roasted poultry.
About the estate:
Henri de Lanzac manages an estate of nearly 60 hectares, including 30 hectares of contiguous vineyards centered around the Château de Ségriès (17th century), acquired in 1994 and cultivated organically. He also manages the Clos de l'Hermitage (3.5 hectares), owned since 1995 by former race car driver Jean Alesi. Both labels are frequently well-ranked in the Guide.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 12/11/2024
This Lirac is full-bodied and slightly warm, with a rich, intense, and freshly balanced palate featuring the rich flavors of stewed fruit (plum, blackberry), complemented by earthy and spicy notes. It has gentle acidity, great volume, and fairly soft, almost silky tannins that linger in a savory finish. A relatively straightforward wine. Pairs well with hearty dishes, such as a Camargue bull stew or, more simply, grilled merguez sausages on the barbecue. Rating = 3.9.
