“Following the 2011 vintage— Favorite the previous edition—comes a less ambitious 2012 that nevertheless bears a family resemblance to its ‘big brother’ thanks to its rich, full-bodied, and silky character, as well as its concentrated and warm fruitiness. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2015). A straightforward and firm wine, with a delicious balance between fruit and spice, a touch of oak, and great length in both structure and aroma... A Saint-Joseph of choice!

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

There’s a breath of fresh air at Vidal-Fleury. Antoine Dupré has replaced Guy Sarton du Jonchay at the helm of the oldest wine merchant in the Northern Rhône (founded in 1781), now owned by the Guigal family but managed independently. New business ambitions are taking shape, and a new winemaking style is gradually emerging, which is beginning to show in the range of wines offered. Stay tuned.

About the estate:

Founded in 1781, Vidal-Fleury is the oldest winery in the Rhône Valley still in operation. It was acquired by the Guigal family in the early 1980s and boasts modern, state-of-the-art facilities, as well as autonomy in its management and winemaking. The range is extensive and covers most of the major appellations of the Rhône Valley. The wines are now reliable, with a rather classic style.
