"A great terroir-driven rosé—perfect for enjoying with a meal!"

“The 2024 Tavel boasts a classic bright ruby color and offers aromas of raspberries, dried strawberries, and flowers on the nose, with a hint of chalky minerality. It is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, with a fresh, concentrated palate and a lovely finish.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

The estate is unique in that it is the only one to span both the Tavel and Lirac appellations in a single contiguous block, covering 65 hectares. Its surface pebbles and sandy-clay subsoil produce wines that are quite fresh, as the vines suffer less from the heat than in other areas. The Tavel includes eight of the nine grape varieties authorized in the appellation; this is a source of pride for the Bez family, who manage this magnificent estate with discretion and wisdom. With its reasonable prices, it serves as a model for the region. The wines here demonstrate tremendous aging potential and develop admirably in complexity, as regularly demonstrated by vertical tastings.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Lightly scented with notes of raspberry and wild strawberry. Lively acidity, a mineral note on the finish that’s slightly salty, with good length. A concentrated Tavel style with a tapered finish. I’d drink it young.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

In 1919, Jean Olivier acquired the former estate of the Counts of Aqueria, centered around an 18th-century château and set within a French-style park. His son-in-law, Paul de Bez, completely restructured the vineyard: today, it comprises 64 hectares in a single block, managed since 1984 by his grandsons Vincent and Bruno, who are now joined by Raphaël, representing the fourth generation. A sure bet for Lirac and Tavel wines.

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

3-Star Estate (Very High-Quality Production)

About the estate:

The Château d'Aqueria dates back to the 16th century. In 1920, it was acquired by Jean Olivier, who would go on to establish its reputation. Today, Vincent and Bruno de Bez tend to the lands of their childhood—no less than 66 hectares. Aside from the Tavel, a renowned gourmet rosé, the rest of the production, under the Lirac appellation (both red and white), is often noteworthy.

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)

About the wine:

Notes of raspberries, wild strawberries, pomegranate, and grapefruit open the 2024 Tavel from Château d'Aquéria, a medium-bodied to full-bodied wine that is round and enveloping, with a structured mid-palate and a long, spicy, and generous finish. This blend of 50% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Clairette, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault, and the remainder Bourboulenc is a classic.

Jancis Robinson

Jancis Robinson

Wine rated (2025 guide) 16/20

About the wine:

A rich nose with a creamy note. The palate is round, with a comforting hint of alcohol that gradually develops. Quite rich and intense, with good structure and acidity. A dense and opulent Tavel, yet with good structure.

James Suckling

James Suckling

About the wine:

Dense, fruity, and delicate, the nose reveals aromas of watermelon, crushed berries, and sweet spices. Medium-bodied, the palate is delicious, well-balanced, and supple. Lively and flavorful. Enjoy now.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

Composed of 50% Grenache (red and white), 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Clairette, 5% Cinsault, and 5% Bourboulenc, the 2024 Tavel boasts a classic bright ruby color and offers aromas of raspberries, dried strawberries, and flowers on the nose, with a hint of chalky minerality. It is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, with a fresh, concentrated palate and a lovely finish. The Heritage cuvée offers more richness but remains just as delightful. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2029.

Review and comment by Mr. GILLES D. Published on April 2, 2026

Delicious notes of fresh red berries and subtle spices infuse a full-bodied, slightly rich palate, without losing any liveliness, thereby tempering this rosé’s vinous character and prolonging its savory finish. A seductive pairing with sun-kissed cuisine, such as monkfish tails Provençal-style or red mullet with anchovy butter, served with Creole rice. Rating = 4.
