This Collioure showcases the expertise of Élise Gaillard, who has earned numerous awards for her wines and has been named a Favorite this white, a blend of Grenache Gris (60%), Vermentino, and Roussanne. Each grape variety plays its part. Vermentino brings freshness and the other two varieties bring richness to this golden wine with an intense and complex nose: honey cake, broom, orange blossom, candied citrus fruits, with a toasted note from the barrel. The palate takes over nicely, tonic and iodized, while offering plenty of richness and roundness (the legacy of Grenache), with beautiful notes of honey, gingerbread, and candied orange. The wood is mellow and well integrated. A full-bodied, generous wine with rare balance. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Wine rating (2017 guide) 15.5/20 + Favorite (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About wine:
A sappy, herbaceous nose with notes of rose, boxwood, and lemon. On the palate, honey and grape stem notes clash, creating a mouthwatering, rich flavor that calls for lobster.
About the estate:
In 2002, Pierre Gaillard took over this multifaceted 29-hectare estate and applied revolutionary vineyard management methods to Banyuls, inspired by his work in Côte-Rôtie. The plots near the sea, exposed to sea breezes, bring a lot of freshness to the whites and rosés, while those located at the bottom of the valley, which are warmer, are more conducive to the production of naturally sweet wines. His daughter is now in charge of the property.

About the estate:
Pierre Gaillard loves hillsides and schist soils. A well-known producer in Côte Rôtie, he turned his attention to Languedoc-Roussillon and became interested in Faugères, before buying Madeloc in Côte Vermeille in 2002. His daughter Élise, an agricultural engineer, runs the estate (around 18 hectares) and is a brilliant winemaker. On some slopes, a winch is used, as in the Rhône Valley.
