Domaine Gardiés - Les Vignes de Mon Père 2020
A limited-edition cuvée from the estate, Les Vignes de Mon Père highlights a different grape variety and terroir with each vintage. In 2020, the focus is on Roussanne. The golden hue is accented with grayish highlights. The nose is intense and complex, with mineral and mouth-watering notes. The wine opens with aromas of toasted dried fruit and dried flowers. The finish reveals lively, fresh notes with a lovely length on the palate.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Jean Gardiès took over the family estate in 1990, focusing from the outset on red wines that quickly became benchmarks for the region. Since then, he has consistently produced refined expressions of his Vingrau terroir, cultivating a 35-hectare vineyard with a highly fragmented layout that is reflected in the philosophy of his wines. For the past eight years, the focus has been on winemaking that stays true to the fruit, with less extraction and more subtlety. Whether you prefer dry wines or naturally sweet wines, you’ll easily find something to your liking here—provided you’re willing to spend a bit more.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
Jean Gardiés now works alongside his son Victor. A proponent of a classic style who is universally respected by his peers, Jean took over the family estate in 1990. He focuses primarily on producing red wines under the Côtes du Roussillon appellation, thereby significantly reducing the production of sweet wines, which now account for only 4 hectares of the vineyard. Grown on various soil types, the reds rank among the region’s finest, offering a beautiful fullness on the palate and flavors of great precision. Noteworthy is the progress made with the whites, which are now aged in 600-liter demi-muids, preserving their mineral character. The estate’s exemplary consistency, the constant care given to both the vineyard and the cellar, and the finesse now evident in all its wines ensure the estate a prominent place among the region’s select elite.
