Côtes Catalanes

To qualify for the Côtes Catalanes IGP designation, wines must be made from grapes harvested in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, with the exception of the four municipalities of Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer, and Cerbère, which constitute the production area for the Côte Vermeille regional wine.

The Côtes Catalanes IGP produces red and rosé wines. The Côtes Catalanes IGP designation may be supplemented by the name of a grape variety; in such cases, the wines must be produced from vineyards planted exclusively with that variety. As of September 1, 2003, Côtes Catalanes IGP wines replaced the former Catalan regional wines, the regional wines of the Fenouillèdes hillsides, and the regional wines of the Vals d’Agly.

Within the Côtes Catalanes IGP, the wines produced by Domaine du Clos des Fées, Domaine Boudau, and Domaine Gauby are particularly noteworthy.
