Château Jonc-Blanc - Les Sens du Fruit 2014
15,5/20
RVF
" We rediscover the life, joy, and purity of Les Sens du Fruit 2014, a delicious, juicy, and distinctive white wine." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2016 - RVF) A white wine with a beautiful length on the palate, rich, full-bodied, and generous, retaining good freshness with a fairly pronounced mineral and salty side on the finish... Very charming!

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, consistent with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal, who moved to Vélines in 2000, chose to produce pure, sulfur-free wines that are both easy to drink and fruity—wines that are meant to be enjoyed. Certified biodynamic since the 2011 vintage, the 19-hectare estate has always been run according to the principles of organic farming, in order to preserve the environment and their health. They have done well, because without falling into the trap of natural wines, whose fermentation processes can get out of hand, they produce a lovely, fairly consistent range of wines, crafted according to terroir, without technicality, in the Burgundian style.

About wine:
We rediscover the life, joy, and purity of Les Sens du Fruit 2014, a delicious, juicy, and distinctive white wine.
About the estate:
Located on clay-limestone soil overlooking the right bank of the Dordogne River, this estate has become one of the driving forces behind the revival of Bergerac. Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal produce lively, pure wines with intense flavors and great freshness, which they offer at very affordable prices. The reds are sulfur-free and made without additives, even at bottling. This approach is masterfully executed: after aeration, the wines remain clean and well-structured, with perfect, natural acidity.

Tasted again in 2019 and then in 2020. The sparkling aspect has disappeared, giving way to a well-balanced wine.

A very (too?) original, even confusing wine. Very pronounced apple flavor (intentional or oxidized?). Pleasant (but nothing more) once you get over the initial surprise!

The same goes for the estate's red wine. Simply undrinkable.

It's not (any longer?) wine: completely oxidized, more like rotten apples... awful taste... it ended up in the sink. No response from the 1Jour1Vin website 1Jour1Vin the terrible quality of these bottles...

Note and opinion by Mr. FABIEN Q. Published on 04/23/2016
This product is not wine, it is cider. Poor quality cork, sparkling wine (so it has probably undergone fermentation, which is logical if little sulfur is added), apple aroma (oxidation?)... Uncontrolled vinification. Such a product should not be offered for sale.

I couldn't drink it, it was oxidized and musty, so I threw it away like my Argentina to buy it.
