Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2015 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

The young and energetic Philippe Lejeune puts his entrepreneurial talent to work not only for his magnificent property, but also for the appellation, forming a remarkable partnership with Stéphane Derenoncourt, his wine consultant, to restore this great wine to its expected class. It is the largest biodynamic vineyard in Cahors, covering 65 hectares. Beware of clichés, the grand-vin-de-chambert does not reveal itself immediately. Like the great Bordeaux wines, it is built to flourish over time. The entry-level cuvées still need to be perfected.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2015 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About wine:

Chambert Gourmand red 2012 is a great success, a floral, accessible, and flavorful expression of Malbec from the highlands.

About the estate:

A historic estate in Cahors, famous since the 19th century, Chambert was bought in 2007 by Philippe Lejeune, a native of the region and successful entrepreneur in IT services. He spared no expense in restoring the château to its former glory. He is firmly committed to certified organic farming and now to biodynamics. The renowned consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt provides his expertise here. The latest wines are of a very high standard and this essential estate in the Cahors landscape will undoubtedly continue to surprise us.
