"A handsome Marmandais!"
Leather and chestnuts on the nose, but rich, tight Damascus plum fruit on the palate. A hint of peach pit, both in texture and flavor. Lots of energy and just a little heat at the back of the throat. There is a scent of fresh mushrooms that hovers over the wine at first, but settles into the finish. This is a wine that makes me want a bowl of truffle risotto. Drink between 2019 and 2025." Wine rated (2020 guide) 17/20 (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About wine:
Absolutely beautiful. An intense red, very structured, complex, still quite young but with potential evident in every sip. The tight structure carries a complex and balanced aromatic profile.
About the estate:
On their family land in the Côtes du Marmandais, Véronique Broutet and her husband Frédéric created the Domaine de Beyssac in 2006. The winery was built in 2009 and the adventure continues today with these 14 hectares of contiguous land, located on a well-exposed hilltop and managed biodynamically since 2017. Everything is harvested by hand and spontaneous, natural vegetation cover is encouraged. The wines produced from this beautiful terroir are dense and smooth. They start out serious and vigorous, then mellow and reveal themselves after three years. Everything was a success in 2015 and 2016.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About wine:
The depth, intensity, and brilliance of the color leave no doubt about the concentration of this wine made from Merlot and Abouriou grapes. The nose confirms this with intense notes of very ripe fruit, pepper, vanilla, and licorice. A frank attack opens onto a palate that is in harmony with the bouquet, rich, smooth and dense, carried by solid tannins, stretching into a beautiful and long licorice finish. A powerful and complex wine with very good aging potential.
About the estate:
A successful career change for this "neo-winemaker" who created this estate from scratch in 2009. With his 12.5 hectares of vines in Marmande, he has achieved remarkable technological progress: eco-friendly construction of the winery, organic and biodynamic farming in the vineyard, and winemaking that is as natural as possible.

A wine with a very pleasant character on the day it was opened, with a firm, long finish. The next day, the wine seemed lighter. A second bottle was corked! What a shame.

Not at all pleasant, bitter, no fruit.

A very special wine! The Abouriou grape variety certainly has something to do with it. The alcohol overwhelms everything. Already aged for seven years, it will not benefit from being kept any longer. A little expensive for my taste.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 06/28/2020
Tasted 06/27/2020 Deep, dark ruby color with still quite a bit of purple. Very vibrant color. On the nose, ripe plum fruit, blackberries, and also blackcurrants. In addition, spices, forest floor, and earthy notes, as well as ink and medicinal roots. All very complex. On the palate, an explosion of thick blackberry, plum, and cassis fruit. Supported by spiciness and beautiful (subtle) wood notes. Enormous tannin structure of fine-grained tannins with a slight bitterness. Lots of body (substance) and power. Fine acids that provide grip. A well-made wine that is mainly fruit-driven, but also shows terroir. Good aging potential due to the beautiful tannins. Now in its youth, it pairs well with hearty meat dishes. The wine will show more depth in about 3 to 4 years (2023/24) and can easily be kept until 2028. Score: 16+/20

Velvety and silky, still a little closed on the palate but very pleasant.
