"A handsome Marmandais!"

"Malbec and Abouriou give Merlot a boost in this very appealing 2022 vintage, which offers lovely aromas of black fruit, spices, and smoky oak. More pronounced on the palate, the aging process coats a beautiful, elegant, pulpy, fresh substance with silky tannins. Ripe but lively, very seductive on the palate, it can be opened without too much waiting, even if its aging potential is beyond doubt." (Le Guide Hachette 2026).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

On their family land in the Côtes du Marmandais, Véronique Broutet and her husband Frédéric created the Domaine de Beyssac in 2006. The winery was built in 2009 and the adventure continues today with these 14 hectares of contiguous land, located on a well-exposed hilltop and managed biodynamically since 2017. Everything is harvested by hand and spontaneous, natural vegetation cover is encouraged. The wines produced from this beautiful terroir are dense and smooth. They start out serious and vigorous, then mellow and reveal themselves after three years. Everything was a success in 2015 and 2016.

About wine:

Malbec and Abouriou give Merlot extra muscle in this very appealing 2022 vintage, which offers lovely aromas of black fruit, spices, and smoky oak. More pronounced on the palate, the aging process coats the wine in a beautiful, elegant, pulpy, fresh texture, stitched together with silky tannins. Ripe but lively, very seductive on the palate, it can be opened without too much waiting, even if its aging potential is beyond doubt.

About the estate:

A successful career change for Frédéric Broutet, who created this estate from scratch in 2009. With his 12.5 hectares of vines in Marmande, the "neo-winemaker" has a remarkable technological track record: eco-friendly construction of the winery, organic farming from the outset, and biodynamic farming since 2016.
