About the estate:
When he took over his father’s vineyards, Marc Penavayre wanted to evolve the style of the local wines toward more refined, more elegant products—a trend that was also evident in other villages in the Southwest during the 1980s and 1990s. It began with greater care in the vineyard, which has been certified organic since 2011. It also involved rethinking the grape varieties, giving pride of place to the local specialty, Négrette, and planting white varieties that are sure to surprise. Finally, it involved a more balanced use of oak barrels. The entire range is guided by the principle of promoting forgotten grape varieties and wines that are enjoyable even when young, all crafted with impeccable precision.

A driving force behind the revival of the Frontonnais region for more than twenty years, Marc Penavayre has played a major role in reviving the identity of the local grape variety, the Négrette. In 201p, his son Thibaut joined him at the helm of the family estate, which comprises a 26-hectare vineyard in Vacquiers, in the southwestern part of the appellation, and has been certified organic since 2011. The purity of the fruit is the common thread running through a range where surprises and unique characteristics abound. Constantly evolving under Thibaut’s guidance, the wines all offer a juicy and approachable profile, reflecting with great authenticity the character of the vintages and the identity of the terroir.
