About the wine:
The 2015 Pèirafi opens up on the nose, revealing radiant fruit and vigorous tannins that awaken the wine and anchor it on a rustic, earthy, and solid foundation.
About the estate:
Jean-Luc Matha’s methods are organic because the winemaker loves wines with a rich, rounded character. True to the fruit and their unique Rougier terroir—those iron-rich, almost mountainous red soils of Marcillac—the vines planted on terraces achieve ideal ripeness. All the vintages are destemmed because Jean-Luc Matha doesn’t like the “pepper” taste. Looking back, it’s clear that the Servadou grape (also known as Mansois or Braucol) in this winemaker’s hands needs time, and that one must know how to coax the different vintages.
