Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Pèirafi 2015 opens up on the nose, revealing radiant fruit and vigorous tannins that enliven the wine and anchor it on a rustic, earthy, and solid foundation.

About the estate:

Jean-Luc Matha’s methods are organic because the winemaker loves wines with a rich, rounded “r” sound. Closely tied to the fruit and their unique Rougier terroir—those iron-rich, almost mountainous red soils of Marcillac—the vines planted on terraces achieve ideal ripeness. All the wines are destemmed because Jean-Luc Matha doesn’t like the “bell pepper” taste. Looking back, it’s clear that the Fer Servadou grape (also known as Mansois or Braucol), in the hands of this winemaker, needs time, and that one must know how to bring out the best in the different wines.
