Franschhoek

The Franschhoek area—which means “the French corner” in Afrikaans—is a subregion of the Paarl region. Franschhoek is located at the southeastern tip of the district. The Franschhoek vineyards are planted on alluvial riverbanks or hillsides. Historically, this region was planted with Sémillon, but red wine production is growing steadily.
