About the wine:

From their high-altitude vineyard with schist soils, these winemakers enjoy crafting sweet or dessert wines. Take, for example, this golden-yellow semi-sweet wine, which leaves beautiful tears on the sides of the glass. Intense and rich on the nose, it blends exotic fruits with hints of candied lemon, honey, and quince. This profile, reminiscent of noble rot, carries through on the palate, with beeswax rounding out the flavor profile. The texture is superb as well: this wine shines with its creaminess, fullness, and sweetness, without the slightest hint of heaviness, as the grape variety’s acidity provides freshness and length. (Residual sugar: 33 g/l.)

About the estate:

South of Barr, the village of Reichsfeld is nestled deep in the mountains, at the bottom of a steep-sided valley sheltered by the Ungersberg, the highest peak in the Bas-Rhin department: this is the home of Marie-Claire and Pierre Borès, who settled here in 1988. The couple cultivates their 10 hectares of vineyards on the steep slopes of the Schieferberg, one of Alsace’s few schist terroirs.
