"There are initially quite intense aromas of asparagus on the nose, which then give way to ripe fruit, smoky aromas, and honey. In a way, it seems closed but gradually opens up with aeration. Full-bodied, round, and elegant, but also lively on the palate, this Pinot Gris reveals beautiful finesse and a slightly bitter finish. (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker).

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

Perfectionist Jean-Christophe Bott is one of Alsace's leading winemakers. He is committed to rigorous work in the cellar and in the vineyard, which is cultivated biodynamically. While it only covered 4 hectares when it was founded in 1953, the estate now has 15 hectares spread across seven communes. The wines here are full-bodied and smooth, with well-controlled richness and no heaviness whatsoever, particularly the Pinot Gris, which is definitely worth rediscovering. Each cuvée has both power and length on the palate, two qualities that lead to fullness. To top it all off, the estate offers slightly older vintages for sale and has recently started renting out cottages.
