Frey-Sohler - Alsace Instant Douceur Riesling Sélection de Grains Nobles (sweet) 2015

Frey-Sohler - Alsace Instant Douceur Riesling Sélection de Grains Nobles (liquoreux) 2015

2*Étoiles

Hachette

“A winemaker frequently recognized for his late-harvest wines. This year’s selection of noble grains, with a straw-yellow hue, strikes a perfect balance between power and elegance. On the nose, quince and candied apricot, with hints of citrus zest. This complex and rich fruitiness carries through to a very concentrated, full-bodied, and generous palate, refined by a fresh, briny finish with hints of lime. Already harmonious, this 2015 will improve with age.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

About wine:

A winemaker frequently recognized for his late-harvest wines. This year’s selection of noble grains, with its straw-yellow hue, strikes a perfect balance between power and elegance. On the nose, quince and candied apricot, citrus peel. This complex and rich fruitiness carries through to a very concentrated, full-bodied, and generous palate, refined by a fresh, briny finish with hints of lime. Already harmonious, this 2015 will improve with age.

About the estate:

Based in Scherwiller, near Sélestat, Damien—joined by his daughter Aude—has been running a 16-hectare estate since 1998, supplementing its production with a wine-trading business. Their vineyards are spread across three terroirs, including Frankstein, a granite-based grand cru located around the neighboring village of Dambach-la-Ville.
