Frey-Sohler Estate
Frey-Sohler is the story of a family of winemakers with deep roots in viticulture spanning five generations. In the 1940s, grandfather Xavier FREY established a major grape market where renowned Alsatian wineries came to source their Riesling. Today, the Frey-Sohler estate covers approximately 30 hectares and is run by the Sohler brothers: Nicolas, the “winemaker,” also oversees the vineyards; Jean handles labeling; and Damien manages sales and administration. The sixth generation has just joined the estate.

The wines of the Frey-Sohler estate come exclusively from the family estate, which produces wines under the Alsatian appellations: AOC Alsace, AOC Crémant d’Alsace, and AOC Grand Cru d’Alsace. Within the “Alsace” appellation, the estate vinifies all seven authorized grape varieties: Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer for white wines, and Pinot Noir for rosés and reds. The estate has been Terra Vitis certified since the 2015 vintage.
