“Reflecting its granite soil and a sunny year, this 2020 is very expressive on the nose, with delicate floral and mineral notes, nuanced by a hint of candied lemon. White fruit adds to this palette on a full-bodied, rich, and silky palate, balanced by ripe acidity. A beautiful terroir-driven Riesling. ” (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2024) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Award-Winning Wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

Riesling has its own street in Scherwiller, which holds a communal appellation for this grape variety. Not far from the village lies the steep Rittersberg hillside, where this cuvée is sourced. Reflecting the granitic soil and a sunny growing season, this 2020 vintage is very expressive on the nose, with delicate floral and mineral notes, nuanced by a hint of candied lemon. White fruit complements this palette on a full-bodied, rich, and silky palate, balanced by ripe acidity. A beautiful terroir-driven Riesling. (Residual sugar: 2.1 g/l.)

About the estate:

Based in Scherwiller, near Sélestat, Damien—joined by his daughter Aude—has been running a 16-hectare estate since 1998, supplementing its production with a wine trading business. Their vineyards are spread across three terroirs, including Frankstein, a granite-based grand cru located around the neighboring village of Dambach-la-Ville.
