Vins Schoenheitz
In the 1970s, Henri Schoenheitz (Sr.) undertook the restoration of the Wihr-au-Val vineyard, which had been severely damaged at the end of World War II. This work continued with the next generation, who set about replanting the steep slopes of this region of Alsace.
In 1980, Dominique and Henri Schoenheitz (son), fresh out of school with degrees in viticulture and oenology, began the first steps in winemaking with their harvest. The Schoenheitz wine lineup had to be created from scratch—a wonderful challenge for these winemakers, who were the only independent growers in the village.
