“One of winemaker Alejandro Vigil’s favorite vintages, Gran Enemigo showcases all of Mendoza’s potential: magnificent!”

“Among El Enemigo’s most refined wines is the 2021 Gran Enemigo Red Blend, [...] Its dusty, floral bouquet with notes of black fruit gradually unfolds to reveal a livelier, more intense profile. The palate is velvety, vibrant, and taut, ending with a savory, fresh, and refined finish, featuring a lingering, mineral-driven core. 2024–2036” (Robert Parker 2025)

About the wine:

Blue fruits with notes of blackberries, violets, white roses, and a hint of curry. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Rather reserved on the palate with a lovely liveliness. Ready to drink or suitable for aging.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 97/100

About the wine:

A blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot, the 2021 Gran Enemigo Red Blend is one of winemaker Alejandro Vigil’s favorite vintages, reflecting the terroir, growing conditions, and his winemaking expertise. The grapes are, of course, grown in high-altitude limestone and rocky soil, then aged for over a year in old casks. The wine is fresh, complex, and alluring, with notes of black fruit, hints of dried herbs, and a structure that will allow it to age for another 20 years. 2025–2045
