Mendoza
Mendoza is a province in Argentina located in the western part of the country, covering an area of 148,827 km². It borders the province of San Juan to the north, San Luis to the east, La Pampa and Neuquén to the south, and Chile to the west; the province lies at the foot of the Andes Mountains. In fact, the vineyards are primarily located at the foot of the Andes, at altitudes ranging from 800 to 1,700 meters. The most significant wine-growing regions are found in the province of Mendoza, which alone produces more than 60% of Argentina’s wines. In 2008, the Mendoza region had more than 144,000 hectares of vineyards.

The province of Mendoza, located in west-central Argentina, enjoys a hot, dry climate. The soils, rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, consist of loose, sandy-clay loam at higher elevations. The province is also fed by four major rivers flowing down from the Andes, with irrigation being a key factor in the growth of the wine industry in this region. Mendoza wines are produced from Chardonnay, Torrontés, Sauvignon, Chenin, Viognier, and Sémillon for whites, and Malbec, Bonarda, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Sauvignon for reds.

The quality of Mendoza wines is fully revealed in the wines offered by Bodega Poesia, Bodega Lopez, Luigi Boscala, Bodega Monteviejo, and Weinert.
