El Enemigo

The Enemy
Now known as one of the most renowned wineries in Mendoza, Argentina, El Enemigo has gone from strength to strength over the years, earning increasing acclaim from critics worldwide for its wines of the highest quality.
Drawing on extensive studies and her connection to her father, Nicolas Zapata (founder of the renowned Catena Zapata estate), Adrianna Zapata masterfully manages the El Enemigo estate alongside the celebrated oenologist Alejandro Vigil (who has been in charge of the wines at Bodegas Catena Zapata since 2002).
From their love for their terroir and their thirst for challenges, El Enemigo was born: embodying this inner struggle against the enemy that is our own limitations. They write: "At the end of the journey, we remember only one battle: the one we fought against ourselves, the original enemy, the one who defined us."
The El Enemigo estate is always committed to surpassing itself by first and foremost offering a magnificent range of grape varieties grown on the high-altitude slopes of the Uco Valley (over 1,400 meters): Malbec, Cabernets, Petit Verdot, Torrontés, Bonarda, Sémillon, Chenin, and Chardonnay.
EveryEl Enemigocuvée, whether white or red, is constantly elevated by meticulous work in the vineyard (plot selection, careful hand-harvesting) as well as in the cellars (batch vinification, long macerations, very long aging, sometimes in century-old casks...).
The ultimate accolade for the Gualtallary Cabernet Sauvignon, named after the region where it thrives: 100/100 from Parker in 2013, and today 99/100 for the 2021 vintage—nothing will stop the legend of this exceptional terroir and the El Enemigo estate.
