"Although it's hard to choose between the Gualtallary and El Cepillo vintages, the Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard 2021 wins my vote as the best example of Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc. [...] Opening with a dark, introverted and discreetly perfumed nose, its aromatic profile continues to unfold to encompass a whole range of herbaceous and floral complexities, combining bubbling intensity with supreme elegance. The palate follows with a rich, silky, refined and delicately succulent energy, releasing itself in a graceful, dense and icy conclusion that gives as much importance to vertical energy as to horizontal richness. The finish builds slowly but surely, revealing shimmering acidity and ultra-refined tannins with increased aeration. There's no better example of Cabernet Franc's suitability in the Uco Valley, a marriage rendered here with incomparable finesse, depth and complexity. 2024-2041" (Robert Parker 2025)

About the wine:
Although it's hard to choose between the Gualtallary and El Cepillo cuvées, the Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard 2021 wins my vote as the best example of Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc. It comes from a plot planted in 1995 on rocky limestone soils, with 10,000 vines per hectare, fermented with 40% whole bunches in barrel and aged for 15 months in century-old tuns. Opening with a dark, introverted and discreetly perfumed nose, its aromatic profile continues to unfold to encompass a whole range of herbaceous and floral complexities, combining bubbling intensity with supreme elegance. There's no better example of Cabernet Franc's suitability to the Uco Valley, a marriage rendered here with incomparable finesse, depth and complexity. 2024-2041

About the wine:
Is it possible to create a structured wine without heaviness? Cabernet Franc Gran Enemigo Gualtallary 2021 provides a remarkable answer to this apparent paradox, finding the solution in a balanced combination of terroir and meticulous cellar work. It's almost utopian: a mountain wine with the structure and character of high-altitude vineyards, but with the agility and freshness of an oceanic red. Purple in color, it opens with aromas of blackberry and plum, enhanced by notes of mountain herbs, a touch of sour cherry, blackcurrant and floral notes of violet and lavender. Dry and juicy, with a slightly compact texture, this wine glides across the palate with airy grace, supported by fine, chalky tannins. This wine is a real triumph. 2026-2046

About the wine:
Graphite and blueberry nose with notes of tar, dark earth and ink. Medium body, with a compact, refined mouthfeel reminiscent of a fine silk ball. Very structured, but perfectly balanced. Wait four or five years before tasting. But you'll be tempted to try it now.
