"The press is unanimous: Penfolds' Yattarna is a chardonnay of wonderful richness and complexity: a great vintage for connoisseurs!"
This full-bodied wine is seductively opulent and confidently showcases the best qualities of Chardonnay. Sourced from the coolest regions of Tumbarumba in New South Wales, Tasmania, and the Adelaide Hills, this premium cuvée is once again the result of careful plot selection. Its bright and expressive aromas of nectarine blossom and jasmine are complemented by a sexy touch of lemon curd and a hint of grapefruit. The balance between all the components is magnificent, while complex textures and flavors unfold, from bright white peach to lime cream, to a tingle of lemon sorbet on the finish. 2025-2044" (Decanter 2023) - Wooden case delivery available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected)

About wine:
The Yattarna Chardonnay 2022 is made from fruit sourced from Tumbarumba (61%), Tasmania (notably Coal River Valley, 26%) and the rest from the Adelaide Hills. This wine ages slowly and gracefully, and I love it for that. Phenolic compounds frame a powerful fruit core that is both lean and broad. It floods the mouth and lingers long after the wine is gone. At this stage, its development seems inchoate: tiny hooks of texture and a frisky line of acidity indicate that the wine still has time ahead of it before it fully realizes its potential. Yattarna is, in my opinion, the best investment in this collection, and the cohesion of the malolactic fermentation in the wine is perpetual and flawless. Yattarna is entirely inoculated with yeast strains developed by the estate, developed over time in collaboration with the AWRI. It has an alcohol content of 12.5%, a pH of 3.11, and a total acidity of 6.8 grams per liter. It was aged for eight months in French barrels (44% new barrels). 2024-2042

About wine:
This wine is perhaps fresher than other Chardonnays. The nose is marked by notes of spruce, nettle, lemon curd, and Camembert, before moving on to hints of stone fruit and a glimpse of praline, cashew, pistachio, and nougat at the heart of the wine. A moderately balanced wine that exerts a reductive tension on a compact and immensely concentrated mid-palate, paradoxically giving an impression of calm and lightness. An excellent Yattarna. Drink now, but preferably from 2025 onwards.

About wine:
The nose is currently somewhat discreet, with notes of tropical fruit, hints of citrus, an appetizing herbaceous flavor, and mineral, smoky, and reductive nuances. The palate is pleasantly slender with notes of flint, very juicy and very persistent. Will continue to mature.
