“Intense, powerful, addictive, elegant, magnificent: the critics are unanimous in their praise of this exceptional vintage!”
"Green herbs, plenty of Cabernet notes on the nose, along with chocolate, mint, anise, and a hint of licorice, as well as fresh blueberries. Smooth and lively, elegant and refined, with a juicy core framed by somewhat chalky tannins. It is powerful yet understated, quite elegant and slender at the moment, not yet fully developed but with a magnificent profile and refined tannins. I love its expression, with a refreshing minty flavor throughout the tasting. Lively, pure, and utterly addictive. Magnificent. It truly shines in the glass, yet at the same time, it is so understated. 2026–2038” (Decanter 2024) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Nose
Beautiful aromatic expression, with complexity in the tertiary aromas, notes of polished mahogany, shoe polish, and saddle leather, along with nutty praline and freshly roasted coffee beans, followed by varietal notes of violet, spearmint, and green pepper, with a hint of minerality

Full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with flavors of cranberry, raspberry, and cherry liqueur; after some aeration, notes of blackberry tart, dark chocolate, oregano, and thyme emerge; fine-grained, elegant tannins; a long, subtly mineral finish

About the wine:
The Bin 169 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is the top-tier Cabernet in the lineup, aged in French oak barrels (16 months, 51% new) and American oak barrels (70%). It is therefore no surprise that it is the more elegant of the two wines upon release. It offers very pleasant aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry, red apple peel, iron-like notes, pomegranate molasses, tobacco, and bay leaf. It is an intensely powerful wine, robust in its own way, yet supple. 14.5% alcohol, sealed with a natural cork. 2023–2051

About the wine:
With great presence and elegance, this 2021 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, with its classic and refined style, offers harmonious aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, and dried herbs, with beautifully integrated oak. Well-structured cedar flavors currently dominate against a backdrop of lively tannins that extend the finish. This is a very serious Cabernet that showcases this elegant Coonawarra vintage. 2027–2038

About the wine:
To recap, 2021 has been an exceptional year across South Australia. Choosing the best wines can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack. Aromas of crushed blackcurrant, sage, dried lavender, and black olive paste blend with an incredibly juicy and very long finish. A touch of Coonawarra menthol. Just a touch. This wine will age very well, and I may be emphasizing that a bit too much today. It’s already drinkable, but will reach its peak starting in 2026.
