The Louis-Claude Desvignes estate in the Beaujolais region is much like its stone walls: sturdy, weathered, and revitalized by time; everything here seems frozen in time yet is constantly evolving. Behind this gate dating from 1722 and this vaulted ceiling—typical of old winemakers’ homes—wines that are both surprising and powerful, the Morgons, age and grow more exquisite. Eight generations have succeeded one another at Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes, passing down a craft inspired by tradition and enriched by constant self-reflection.

A devoted advocate of the Morgon appellation, Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes applies its expertise and passion to 13 hectares of vineyards spread across two of the six “climats” that make up the cru: Douby and the prestigious Côte du Py climat, where it owns 5 hectares. It is on these rich soils—a blend of iron-oxide-infused clay, schist, and weathered igneous rock—that the vines of Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes thrive. With an average age of sixty years, they yield the appellation’s unique grape variety, Gamay noir à jus blanc.
