Maison Coquard - Régnié 2007

Maison Coquard - Régnié 2007

The Régnié appellation spans two villages—Régnié and Durette—on sandy granite soil. The youngest of the Beaujolais crus, elevated to appellation status in 1988, this wine is supple and delicate, with a cherry-red color and violet highlights, opening with aromas of redcurrant, blackberry, and raspberry. A seductive wine to enjoy on any occasion!

Rated estate (2014 guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire range)

About the estate:

"Christophe Coquard founded his own wine merchant in 2005. He offers a range of wines covering every appellation in Beaujolais, and more recently, the neighboring Mâconnais region. The labels are beautifully designed, and the prices remain reasonable. The company did not present its 2008 vintages as we had requested, but instead offered the 2009s, which have a more favorable reputation. In this vintage, several crus disappointed us, but the regional appellations were bursting with fruit.”
