Château Haut-Canteloup - Blaye Cuvée Prestige 2019
2*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
89/100
Gilbert & Gaillard
" Unanimously praised by our tasters, this cuvée—aged for 12 months in oak barrels—boasts a deep, dense, almost black color. Intense and complex, the nose reveals notes of black fruit and marzipan, accompanied by toasty oak. Supple and smooth on the palate, the wine is round, rich, and full-bodied, perfectly structured with a lovely length thanks to round, flavorful tannins. A lovely hint of bitterness lends a pleasant touch of liveliness to the finish. A truly beautiful wine that will be best enjoyed in a few years.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

About the estate:
Catherine and Sylvain Bordenave—who have been joined since 2003 by their sons Alexandre and Vincent—have made the Châteaux Haut-Canteloup and Les Pierrères must-try wines of the Blayais region. They manage a beautiful 51-hectare vineyard: 30 hectares of red grape varieties in the town of Fours and 20 hectares of white grape varieties in Saint-Palais-de-Blaye.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 89/100
About the wine:
A beautiful, intense ruby color with purple highlights. An inviting nose combining plum, red berries, delicate spices, and vanilla-scented oak. On the palate, it is full of strength and vitality—firm, concentrated, and deep—and is just waiting to unfold. A fine example of traditional winemaking.
