"Deliciously indulgent"

Another fine series of Bordeaux wines from Despagne, offering impeccable consistency in quality. At the top of the range is this deliciously rich Bel Air Perponcher, whose aromatic expression immediately seduces the senses with notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, spice, and toast. The aromas are prolonged with intensity by a full-bodied, smooth, tender palate, supported by velvety tannins and a fine acidity that gives it vitality. Already delicious, this Bordeaux will age well." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019) A success!

About the estate:

Formerly owned by the Perponcher family, who were forced to flee to Holland after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, it was acquired in 1990 by the Despagne company. A vineyard located on a clay-siliceous plateau overlooking the Dordogne, essential for Bordeaux (in all three colors), Bordeaux Supérieur, and Entre-Deux-Mers.

Not to my taste. Quite short, not much flavor. Meh, not great.
