Château Bel Air Perponcher
With a winemaking tradition spanning more than two centuries, the Despagne family, based in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, is a key player in the Bordeaux wine industry, managing 300 hectares spread across several vineyards, including Bel Air Perponcher.
Since 1990, Basaline, a descendant of the Despagne family, and her husband Eric Granger have been dedicated to keeping the Bel Air Perponcher estate alive and showcasing the character of its clay-limestone soils through bold, terroir-driven wines.

Sauvignon, Sémillon, and Muscadelle come into their own here, producing full-bodied whites of great purity with mineral notes.
The reds and rosés are fruity and full-bodied, made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
The main building of Château Bel Air Perponcher is a 16th-century fortified house overlooking the Engranne Valley, in the
northern Dordogne. Before it was known as “Bel Air,” it was built by the family of the Lords of
Perponcher, who originated from the Sarlat region in the Périgord.
This connection to the Perponchers is the thread running through an exceptional history spanning the centuries: the Perponchers were
bold entrepreneurs, Protestants forced into exile in the United Provinces following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes,
renowned military officers in the service of the Princes of Orange, writers, and diplomats.
