"Located on well-drained marshland, the Bolaire vineyard is unique in its preference for Petit Verdot, which makes up 54% of this wine, accompanied by Merlot (37%) and Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep color with purple highlights, intense fruit nose with hints of black cherry and blackcurrant, lively and powerful attack, mellow tannins, still firm on the finish. "Solid as a rock and already harmonious. " (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2015)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About wine:
Remarkably well made: a nose full of character, with blackcurrant and blackberry jam, gunflint, and vanilla oak; the palate expresses the same aromatic palette, velvety, fresh, balanced, and full of charm.
About the estate:
The originality of this wine lies in the high percentage of Petit Verdot used in its blend, generally around 40%. This grape variety expresses its full potential on the predominantly marshy terroir of this 5-hectare estate, located on a former island in the Garonne River that was connected to the mainland in the Middle Ages. Full of character, the wines display exuberant aromas, generally very ripe fruit, skillfully balanced oak, and a texture that is both powerful and silky, always balanced by an elegant freshness. The exuberance and refinement characteristic of the estate are evident in the powerful, complex, deep, vibrant, and energetic 2015 vintage.

About the estate:
Businessman Vincent Mulliez, who passed away in 2010, purchased Châteaux Bolaires (Bordeaux Supérieur), Belle Vue, and Gironville (Haut Médoc) in the southern part of the Médoc region in 2004, which have since become solid investments. His heirs have taken up the torch.

About the estate:
In the marshes of Macau, in a place called Le Bout de l'Île, the team at Château Belle-Vue (Haut-Médoc) produces a beautifully crafted Bordeaux Supérieur. Its uniqueness lies in the significant proportion of Petit Verdot (60% of the blend), which gives the wine a perfectly balanced spicy and minty character. Harvested late, vinified at low temperatures (extracting color and fruitiness) and aged in barrels (30% new wood), which can sometimes be a little too dominant at the expense of the fruit, the latest vintages stand out for their seductive profile and long finish. This estate is undoubtedly one of the appellation's safest bets!

Bordeaux with finesse, very woody, mellow aging. 5* for value for money; it's not a very complex wine, but it has a lot of personality.
