"Dourthe's No. 1 is an appealing entry-level wine with a delicate and approachable character! ~ Vinous"

“Both rich and harmonious, this wine offers a full-bodied, tannic structure, underpinned by lovely notes of blueberry, vanilla, spices, and menthol, as well as a hint of pastry-like sweetness from its aging in oak. The texture remains very silky, developing magnificent depth on the palate, richness, and great length. A wine that is as powerful as it is elegant. ” (Hachette Guide 2025) - Aged in new French oak barrels, Dourthe N°1 is a round and complex wine whose tannins blend harmoniously with those of the wood. Rich, powerful, and sun-kissed, 2022 is undoubtedly a great vintage!

About the wine:

Both rich and harmonious, this wine offers a full-bodied, tannic structure, underpinned by lovely notes of blueberry, vanilla, spices, and menthol, as well as a hint of pastry-like sweetness from its oak aging. Wine rated (2025 guide) 89/100

About the wine:

A rich nose, filled with spicy berries, cherries, and blackcurrants. There’s also a hint of chocolate. Juicy and slightly velvety on the palate, this wine has a medium body and moderate length. Ready to drink now.

Yves Beck

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

Aged in 50% new French oak barrels and 50% stainless steel tanks. The aging is certainly noticeable, but it isn’t overpowering. It allows the wine’s characteristics to come through—such as hints of strawberries and raspberries—while spicy notes emerge in the background. On the palate, the wine is well-supported by compact, robust tannins that, together with the acidity, ensure its freshness. A flavorful wine that’s ready to enjoy now, while also offering good aging potential. Now – 2030

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2025 guide) 89/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity, with a certain fullness and a rich, indulgent character. It reveals notes of crushed strawberry, raspberry, and, more subtly, blackcurrant, combined with hints of blueberry, star anise, and a subtle touch of jammy red currant. On the palate, the wine is fruity, juicy, and fresh, with an approachable character and a certain fullness and richness in the fruit. On the palate, it expresses notes of fleshy, juicy blackcurrant, plump cherry, and, to a lesser extent, vibrant berries, lending a rich, indulgent character, combined with a hint of cardamom and delicate floral notes. A fruit-forward wine that’s approachable, easy to pair, and indulgent. The tannins are subtly sap-like.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on July 30, 2025

Rather conventional, this Bordeaux offers a supple, full-bodied, and juicy palate with spicy fruit notes and a subtle freshness, enveloped by tannins that are still a bit young and powerful but not excessive. The finish lingers with generous fruit and well-integrated oak. Well-crafted for this affordable price point. Easy to pair with everyday meals, especially a grilled ribeye steak and homemade French fries. Rating = 3.9.
