A rich, indulgent wine with aromas of ripe fruit. The tannins from the oak add density and structure on the palate and enrich it with spicy notes and exotic accents. Decanting is recommended if you wish to enjoy this wine while it is still young.” (Hachette Guide, 2021 Edition)

Wine rated (2019 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2016 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Excellent ripe fruit, harmonious and full-bodied, perfectly balanced with a refreshing finish.

About the estate:

The Despagne family owns five estates and 300 hectares of vineyards, planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties. The Despagnes’ dedication, creativity, and expertise ensure that all their wines—particularly those from their flagship estates, Tour de Mirambeau and Rauzan Despagne—could serve as a model for many Bordeaux wines: always pleasing to the palate, yet never straying far from the classic Bordeaux style.

Rated estate (2016 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

A rich, indulgent wine with aromas of ripe fruit. The tannins from the oak add density and structure on the palate and enrich it with spicy notes and exotic undertones. Decanting is recommended if you wish to enjoy this wine while it’s still young.

About the estate:

A former fortified estate redesigned in the 19th century, overlooking a vast, contiguous 100-hectare vineyard acquired in 1998 by the Despagne family (Rauzan Despagne, Bel Air Perponcher, Tour de Mirambeau, Lion Beaulieu). A consistently high-quality wine that has enjoyed a strong reputation in China ever since it was compared to a Freddie Mercury concert in the famous manga *The Drops of God*.
