"A beautiful outsider on the Right Bank!"

"Freshness evident from the first moment, lots of body with delicious red fruit. Everything is in balance and you get juice, delicious hints of chocolate shavings and salinity as it develops to the finish. Great stuff and low SO2 additions." Yves Beck

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100

About wine:

Joanin Bécot's bouquet creates a beautiful symbiosis between freshness, minerality, and fruit. It presents notes of graphite, followed by mint and black berries. On the palate, the wine has character and momentum. It owes this to the tension of its acidic structure, while the tannins provide body. Fruity and juicy finish. 2023-2034

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is refined and elegant, offering a racy power, intensity, a little power, and a sensation of tension. There are notes of bright blackcurrant, small black berries and, more subtly, blueberry, combined with hints of bright blue plum, bright cherry/morello cherry, as well as delicate hints of violet, camphor, zan and a very subtle hint of sweet spices. The palate is elegant, rich, beautifully defined and precise, with lovely finesse and smoothness, fine texture, subtle tension and delicacy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright blackberry, bright blackcurrant, and more subtly, small blue berries combined with very subtle hints of blond tobacco and sweet/toasted spices. Good length. The tannins are elegant, racy, and structuring.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 07/24/2023

An excellent wine with a charming presentation and an expressive, complex bouquet of black berries, pepper, tobacco, cloves, and more. This wine is also distinguished on the palate, remarkable for its finesse and suppleness, developing an exquisite and delectable blend of tart and extremely concentrated flavors of raspberries, cherries, plums, blackcurrants, and blood oranges, combined with notes of blond tobacco and white pepper on a beautiful mineral structure with a chalky touch. The polished, powdery tannins, with well-adjusted oak, build to a crescendo, releasing extraordinary juiciness and bringing just the right amount of fresh, invigorating acidity with a powerful sapidity. The refinement is taken to the extreme in the caressing, silky finish, lifted by sparkling fruitiness. How chic it is! A beautiful Castillon with incredible charm and good value for money, even more so in this exceptional 2019 vintage, which promises a long future. Tasted with the family after decanting for 1 hour, with farm-raised rabbit with green olives, accompanied by pieces of potatoes sautéed in butter. Rating = 4.2.
