The nose is refined and elegant, offering a sophisticated power, intensity, a hint of strength, and a sense of tension. It features notes of vibrant blackcurrant, small black berries, and, more subtly, blueberries, combined with hints of vibrant blue plum and vibrant cherry/morello cherry, as well as subtle hints of violet, camphor, zan, and a very subtle hint of sweet spices. On the palate, it is elegant, rich, beautifully defined, and offers precision, a lovely finesse in its smoothness, a lovely finesse in its texture, subtle tension, and delicacy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of vibrant blackberry, vibrant blackcurrant, and, more subtly, small blueberries, combined with very subtle hints of blond tobacco and sweet, toasty spices. A wine of exceptional quality, with an appealing appearance and an expressive, complex bouquet of black berries, pepper, tobacco, and cloves... This wine is equally refined on the palate, remarkable for its finesse and suppleness, developing an exquisite and delightful blend of tart and extremely concentrated flavors of raspberries, cherries, plums, blackcurrants, and blood oranges, combined with notes of blond tobacco and white pepper on a beautiful mineral backbone with a chalky touch. The polished, powdery tannins, with well-integrated oak, build to a crescendo, revealing extraordinary juiciness, and provide just the right amount of invigorating, acidic freshness with a powerful savory depth. The refinement is taken to the extreme right through the caressing, silky finish, carried aloft by sparkling fruitiness. What a chic, elegant presence! A beautiful Castillon with incredible charm and good value for money, even more so in this exceptional 2019 vintage, which promises a long future. Tasted with family after decanting for 1 hour, paired with farm-raised rabbit with green olives, accompanied by butter-sautéed potato chunks. Rating = 4.2.
